Can I apply if I am an overseas company?

Yes, overseas companies are eligible to apply for the BIG BANG. However, it is important to note that you must have an eligible Hong Kong Business Registration and fulfill other entry criteria by the result announcement period, if you are shortlisted.

What are the entry criteria for BIG BANG?

The BIG BANG is open to startups ideally between the Seed and Series A stage, established within 5 years of the program application date. The startups should have a prototype or minimum viable product (MVP) undergoing market validation. Additionally, if the startup wants to apply for the funding under the HKSTP incubation programmes, the startup should not be currently enrolled in any Cyberport programs and need to comply with the terms & conditions under the HKSTP Incubation Programme. For details, please refer to “Incubation Application Guide 2.1 Eligibility Criteria” at https://www.hkstp.org/media/syddjfte/incubation_application_guide20231015_v11.pdf Your application may be accepted even if your Hong Kong business legal entity has not yet been registered at the time of submission. However, if you are shortlisted, you must complete the business registration in Hong Kong by the result announcement period.

How much does it cost to join BIG BANG?

The applications will be screened and selected by HKSTP, Business France and L'Oréal according to the Judging Criteria. L'Oréal final presentation eligible and approved startups will be nominated to attend HKSTP Incubation Programme Assessment Panel Meeting (in Oct 2024).

Is it required for companies to have business tractions focusing on the beauty industry for joining Big Bang?

No. You are more than welcome to join Big Bang if your solution addresses the problem statements even if your innovation primarily does not target beauty and related industries. With industry insights and comments from the L'Oréal team, you will be able to transform your innovations into practical solutions with commercial value in those businesses.

How many companies will be selected for Big Bang? When will the applicants know the result?

The number of participating companies varies. It will be subject to the innovation proposed by the applicants. The shortlisted companies will be informed of the result by early October, and Big Bang result announcement date will be made in November.

Will participating companies be required to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA)?

During the application period, companies are not required to sign an NDA. Your application information and solution proposal will be shared with L'Oréal for screening purpose only. For details regarding our Data Collection Policy, please refer to the application form.
